Sin City

Frank Miller's Sin City is coming to the big screen April 1st! The trailer looks good, and IMDB already has some interesting trivia. Cheers to Robert Rodriquez for continuing to make trouble for the Hollywood establishment. May he never learn "the right way to do things"!

I do like all the fancy displays and decorations this time of year:

Trust Yourself

I've always done things a little differently. I keep waiting until I grow up and learn "how to do things right". I'm starting to realize maybe I already have, but my "how to do things right" just looks a little different then everyone said it would.

I see others in my generation coming to the same realization. I wonder, does this happen to every generation? We live in the fracture zone between innovation and tradition. We're making it up as we go along, and for all I know that's all anyone has ever done.

Untitled Logos

I'm inspired! I've just been exposed to Matt Siber's art. Now want to do some! Check it: Floating Logos (just what it says) & The Untitled Project (daily life, stripped of all text). Remake your reality! Everyone else is doing it. . .

Maps & Snapshots

My problem, you see, is that I want to be understood.

It's just that when I think about it, my favorite artists aren't the ones who spell things out. I believe an artist's role is to go into the dark jungle and bring something back for the villagers. Some bring back a map, instructions on how to get there. Others bring back snapshots, visions of what it looks like when you get there. My favorite artists bring back snapshots, but for some reason I'm always drawing maps.

Does that make sense?

Wait, there I go again. . .
